Taking COVID-19 Precautions with Physical Therapy Cancer Patients

Keeping our patients safe and healthy has always been and will continue to be our top priority. Since Oncology Rehab and Wellness (ORW) provides an essential service, we have remained open through the shutdown and implemented the proper precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We recognize that our patients are at higher risk of illness and continue in our diligence to make all visits with us safe and healthy experiences. Please read the following to learn how you can partner with us to keep you safe.

Our Commitment to You

ORW is dedicated to staying up-to-date with all CDC and Virginia Department of Health guidelines as well as remaining aware of the infection rate within Loudoun/Fairfax Counties. Our staff and any visitors are monitored daily for COVID-19 symptoms and masks and other protective equipment are mandated on all ORW premises.

What Our Office Appointments Are Like

Scheduling appointments is easy and done so over the phone. Our appointments are appropriately spaced out so that overcrowding is not an issue. We ask that all clients show up no earlier than 5 minutes before their appointment to minimize any waiting in the clinic. Staff will meet you near the waiting room, and all patients are screened prior to entry to the main treatment or gym areas. We will be implementing new processes to include texting and mobile check soon for even more efficiency with scheduling and check in, to keep everyone safe. More information to come.

Out of respect for our current clients, visits are by appointment only. Consultations are still available and can be scheduled when you call us at (703) 789-0367 or can be requested via our website. These can be completed on the phone or via our telehealth platform. From there, we can decide if an in-person evaluation will be needed/recommended, and we can discuss the best options for telehealth or clinic sessions in order to best meet your specific needs and comfort level.

Our clinic has private, individual treatment rooms for in-person appointments that are thoroughly sanitized before and after appointments. All sessions that can be completed in the privacy of a treatment room are held there to minimize exposure to others. Our exercise room is spacious and allows for easy distancing; all equipment and surfaces are also sanitized before and after each use. We have set up hand sanitation stations and practice social distancing and use all appropriate PPE in our daily routines.

If you or someone close to you is experiencing any flu/cold or COVID-19-like symptoms, we ask that you call us first to discuss any upcoming appointments. We may recommend you schedule a telehealth appointment or wait the required time after experiencing those symptoms before coming in.

We know that these times can be difficult, so we appreciate your transparency and cooperation with us. If there is any way we can accommodate you during your visit, let us know and we will do our best to serve you.

Holding Virtual Appointments with Telehealth

To accommodate our clients who prefer to stay home, we now offer telehealth consultations, evaluations, and telerehab services. We meet with patients over our HIPAA-compliant video platform, where we discuss your symptoms and recommend stretches and exercises based on the visual feedback we receive.

If you are uncomfortable with in-person visits, we would highly recommend our telehealth and telerehab services, as they have shown to be very effective in meeting the assessment and rehabilitation needs of patients who need to take more precautions.

Thanks for Partnering with Us

We appreciate your partnership with us to keep you, our staff, and our other patients safe. We want you to know how grateful we are that our patients are remaining vigilant. We have had no negative incidents thus far while operating our services, and believe that with our continued efforts, we will remain a safe and healthy space on your journey to recovery.
